Description: A latest survey divulges that rate of episiotomy has reduced since 1990s in the United States. Earlier, an episiotomy was carried out in nearly one third of all the deliveries. Episiotomy is a surgical cut which is used to widen the birth canal. It makes the delivery relatively easier for pregnant woman. Researchers closely followed around 2,261,070 pregnant women in the hospitals. They observed that around 325,193 went through episiotomy during that period.
